Ingredients
  

Main
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion diced
  • 2 bell peppers diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup rice uncooked
Sauce
  • 1 can 15 oz tomato sauce
  • 1 can 14.5 oz diced tomatoes
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
Finish
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • 2 tbsp parsley chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method
 

Cook Base
  1. Brown ground beef in large skillet over medium-high heat
  2. Add onions and peppers, cook until softened
  3. Add garlic and cook 1 minute until fragrant
  4. Stir in uncooked rice and toast slightly
Simmer
  1. Add tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, broth, and seasonings
  2. Bring to boil, then reduce heat to low
  3. Cover and simmer for 18-20 minutes until rice is tender
Finish
  1. Remove from heat, let stand 5 minutes
  2. Fluff with fork, adjust seasoning
  3. Top with cheese, cover to melt
  4. Garnish with parsley before serving
