Ingredients
  

Sandwich Components
  • 6 slices thick-cut bread sourdough, whole grain, or brioche
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 slices cheddar or American cheese
  • 4 slices tomato
  • 4 leaves lettuce romaine or butter lettuce
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp butter for cooking
Optional Additions
  • Avocado slices
  • Sliced red onion
  • Hot sauce or ketchup
  • Breakfast sausage patty
  • Hash brown patty

Method
 

Prepare Components
  1. Cook bacon in skillet until crispy, then drain on paper towels
  2. Pour off excess bacon fat, reserving 1 tablespoon for cooking eggs
  3. Fry eggs in same skillet to desired doneness (over-medium works well)
  4. Season eggs with salt and pepper
  5. Toast bread slices until golden brown
Assemble Sandwich
  1. Spread mayonnaise on one side of each bread slice
  2. On first slice, layer lettuce followed by tomato slices
  3. Place second bread slice on top, mayo-side up
  4. Layer cheese, bacon, and fried egg on second slice
  5. Add any optional ingredients like avocado or onion
  6. Top with third bread slice, mayo-side down
Secure and Serve
  1. Press sandwich gently together
  2. Insert toothpicks or skewers through the corners to hold layers
  3. Cut diagonally into quarters for easier eating
