Preparation
- Spread softened butter evenly on one side of each bread slice. This is the side that will go face-down in the pan.
- On the unbuttered side of two bread slices, spread a generous layer of pizza sauce, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Sprinkle Italian seasoning and garlic powder over the sauce.
Assembly
- Layer half the mozzarella cheese over the sauce on each bread slice.
- Arrange pepperoni slices evenly over the cheese, then add any optional toppings you like.
- Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese, then place the other bread slice on top, buttered side facing out.
Cooking
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-low heat. Place the sandwiches buttered-side down in the pan.
- Cook for 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and crispy. Press gently with a spatula.
- Carefully flip the sandwiches and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the second side is golden and the cheese is fully melted. Serve immediately.
