Cherry Hawaiian Danishes

Ingredients
  

For the Dough
  • 1 package 10 ounces refrigerated crescent rolls or puff pastry
For the Cream Cheese Filling
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Topping
  • 1 21 ounce can cherry pie filling
  • 1/4 cup crushed pineapple drained

Method
 

Prepare the Dough
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough or puff pastry and press seams together to form a large rectangle. Cut into 12 squares.
Make the Filling
  1. In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. Set aside.
Assemble and Bake
  1. Place the dough squares on the prepared baking sheet.
  2. Spoon a dollop of the cream cheese mixture onto the center of each square.
  3. Top the cream cheese with a spoonful of cherry pie filling and a sprinkle of crushed pineapple.
  4. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the danishes are golden brown and the filling is set.
Glaze (Optional)
  1. For a glaze, whisk together 1 cup powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons milk. Drizzle over warm danishes.
