Method
Prepare Brisket
- Combine rub ingredients and coat brisket thoroughly
- Wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight
- Let come to room temperature before cooking
Slow Cook
- Preheat oven to 300°F
- Place onions and garlic in roasting pan
- Place brisket on top, fat side up
- Mix cooking liquid ingredients and pour around brisket
- Cover tightly and cook for 4 hours until tender
Shred and Serve
- Remove brisket from liquid and let rest
- Skim fat from cooking liquid and reduce for sauce
- Shred beef using two forks
- Mix with reduced sauce and caramelized onions
- Serve on buns or with side dishes
