Breakfast Pigs in a Blanket Recipe

Ingredients
  

For the Main Dish
  • 8 breakfast sausage links
  • 1 sheet refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
For the Egg Wash
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
For Serving
  • Maple syrup for dipping
  • Ketchup or mustard optional

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into 8 triangles along the perforations.
  3. In a small bowl, beat the egg with water to create the egg wash and set aside.
Cooking
  1. Place one sausage link on the wide end of each dough triangle, sprinkle a little shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  2. Roll each sausage up in the dough, starting at the wide end and rolling toward the point, pinching the edges to seal.
  3. Place the wrapped sausages seam side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Brush each roll with the egg wash to help them turn golden brown.
Finishing
  1. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until the dough is golden and cooked through.
  2. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving with maple syrup or your choice of dipping sauces.
