Method
Prepare Dough
- Dissolve yeast in warm milk with a pinch of sugar. Let stand until foamy, about 5-10 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and lemon zest.
- Add yeast mixture, softened butter, and eggs. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours until doubled.
Make Filling
- Mash half the blueberries lightly with a fork.
- Combine with whole blueberries, brown sugar, softened butter, cinnamon, and lemon juice.
Assemble Rolls
- Punch down dough and roll into a 12x18 inch rectangle.
- Spread filling evenly over dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border.
- Starting from the long side, roll tightly into a log.
- Cut into 12 equal pieces using dental floss or a sharp knife.
- Place in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Cover and let rise for 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Bake and Glaze
- Bake for 22-27 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool in pan for 10 minutes.
- Whisk together glaze ingredients until smooth.
- Drizzle glaze over warm rolls.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
